Hello,
Have recently being toying with the idea of upgrading my 2 x 3870s for a 4870. I've been fairly happy with my 3870s, though they really start to struggle when you crank-up the AA @ 1920x1200.
I thought i'd wait and see how they perform with Warhammer Online, but it seems they're not quite up to the task. Was just browsing the 4870s/GTX280s (wow the 280s have shot up in price!) and i noticed the 1GB version has now been released and is on TWO at £187.99 (just 18 quid more than the cheapest 512mb version)!
Anyway, do you think this card would solve my framerate woes? I use a Dell 2707WFP and feel AA is a must... from reading the many other reviews of the 4870s it seems they munch through AA with very little performance hit.
Also wondering if this is the best option, or whether i'd be better-off going for the Powercolor PCS version (slightly factory OC'd + the uprated (?) cooler) or just the cheapest 512mb version at £170 and slap-on an aftermarket cooler. Basically, is there any point in the 1GB version of the 4870?
Cheers,
Ham
