4870 512mb flashing to desktop when playing games

I have a ATI 4870 512mb v/c,when i play (WOV,Battle of Britain)in the action scenario in 3D,then switch out of 3D to 2D for the combat report,it will momentarily switch to showing the desktop taskbar,then go to the combat report.
It never did this with my ati 1900xt,but then i wasnt using CCC.
i have tried various settings in the CCC,like Edge Detect,Box, and different AA,but the desktop bar still flashes up when going from 3D to 2D.

No problem with the heat of the v/c.
I have the resolution when playing the game at 1600x 1200,(my native screen resolution),and not set to desktop,which i thought it might have something to do with that.
Its a pain really,hope someone can help with this problem.

21" viewsonic lcd
santa cruz s/c
2gb crucial mem.
GA-p35ds3r mobo.

No the drivers arent crashing,the card runs crysis demo very good.
The WOV game isnt crashing,it shows the desktop taskbar for a spit second,then carries on to the 2D i wanted in the first place.
Its as if its something to do with the card going from 2D to 3D.

Try uninstalling the drivers and installing them again,Also make sure your directX is up to date

I am using winxp pro,and im using directx Nov 2008.
I was using ATI drivers 8.10,so i tried the hotfix drivers for the 4870,but it is still doing the same thing.
I did make make sure i cleaned out all the ATI drivers,even from the regedit.
