4870 and 4850 piccies

methinks, dependant on price and performance i'l go with a 4850, rather than say a 8800gt, as it'l also give people chance of 2 cards in the future with xfire, as i get the impression intel boards + chips tends to be better than nvidia

Whilst looks are looks, it will be inside a case for 99% of its life and nobody will see it.

I'm still not seeing a compelling reason to upgrade gaming-wise unless you're a person who thinks all the gameplay flaws in Crysis will be removed by gaming at 1920 x 1200...

Anyone else noticed that the 4850 seems to only have 1 6 pin power thingamigid but the 4870 looks like it has 2?

Sod flaws, just getting a decent framerate at 1920x1200 in most new games would be nice :)

New mobo and two 4870's here I come.

Trouble is, if we keep buying on the basis of eye candy and not gameplay, the games just get worse and worse, and ultimately you may as well end up buying a desert island shoot-em up movie by Uwe Boll... hang on... ;)

Looking good, performance seems like it will be good too. All I need to know now is if they are still as loud as a lawnmower during gaming, because if so, I'll be sticking with nVidia regardless.

I absolutely loathe loud video cards.

I must admit, I wonder if I should sell my HD3870 before the 48xx series comes out and convince the wife it is a good move. At which point I'll be asking her that I need to also get a new motherboard as well..... :D
