Desperate now, after an hour or so of gaming away my screen goes black/corrupts. Sometimes itll fix itself sometimes it wont, however alt tabbing and its perfectly fine. I suspect heat.

spec me a good cheap 4870 compat cooler thats easy peasy and freezes my nuts off. :D

what ram sinks did you use with a neo?

how are both of the mentioned in terms of audiable noise? I'm after silent, should have mentioned :(

its just come back from RMA :/ my other one flat out died (core fault LED).

I know ati's run hot, but 86load is kinda pushing it. I doubt it has any grounds for an RMA though. Plus with uni I NEED the gfx card.

Is it definitely the heat - ie Run it at full pelt just to see if it is stable + keep an eye on the temps. Could always point a 120mm fan at it too :)
If it fails even when cold it is likely something else. Have you already discounted drivers?

doesnt fail when cold, only when hot and running fullscreen games (but if i alt tab to desktop its fine, if i alt tab into the game it could be compltly corrupt screen... however desktop is still fine)

full pelt temps (on auto fan) hit 86+, with fan on 100% it didnt go above 45. However I have a headache. :P

I'll do some tests with drivers and stuff sometime, im just on the latest ones so..

and before if i played a game for a while my soundcard would cutout/high pitched whine. (soundcard is about a mm away form the gfx card.

I cant put my hand behind the pc due to the hot air its pushing out...

Got a spare 120mm fan you can point towards it then? - I've done this in the past and its nice and effective although quite ghetto :P
I could probs find a spare if you need one ;)

The problem is a combination of heat and noise, with the stock coolers if you run at default speed setting they get too hot, if you manually increase the speed then they stay cool but sound like a jet taking off in your case. The Neo's on the other hand are best of both worlds, theyre quieter than the stock coolers at default speed and cool better than when theyre ramped up. They also come supplied with their own RAM sinks
