hi all

debating with myself about getting another 4870 for crossfire, as im not that happy with single card performance, doesnt seem much faster than my 8800gtx rly

but the 2xpcie connectors on my gamexstream 850w are both connected of course.

can i get away with using a couple of those molex-pcie adaptors, or is that a bit dodgy?

dont want to buy another psu atm, so i guess if i cant get it to work, will sell 4870 and get a 280

any thoughs?

Oh and it will be fine using the molex connectors btw unless you don't have 4 spare ones on your psu?

Something wrong there then as the 4870 hands the 8800 GTX its ass, and its only around 10% slower than the GTX 280, and it even beats that in some at high res with lots of AA.

Dont think I have 4 spare molex (thought i would need only 2), as I have 6 hard drives, 2 optical drives, fan controller etc

Dont get me wrong, its definitely quicker than 8800gtx, +20fps(ish) minimum in company of heroes, +10fps(ish) in crysis, guess I was expecting a bigger boost

So the best bet is to wait and see what the 4870x2 is like, if not, 280 should be cheaper by then

thanks chaps

that would be nice!

also, does the catalyst ai setting make much difference to fps? iv got it on advanced atm, thinking that would be most optimized for most games?
