I am having a nightmare with my 4870 in crossfire, I am getting screen flicker on my monitor It,s like watching an old analogue T.V I have done all sorts to get rid of this changed drivers 9.1 and 9.2 maybe i should try 8.12?.

And now i am also getting my computer freezing up in games Call of duty 5 just locks up and a reboot is the only thing i can do ??? I could game all night or it could go in 10 mins...

Could someone please guide me i.e Is it Ati drivers or may be a susspect faulty power supply???

Only in crossfire does the screen flicker not in single card mode.

What do you mean by 'flicker'? Do you mean screen tearing? or do you mean you are getting and 'on off' image, or are the images overlapping or what?

As for ATi drivers suffering from reboots no, I ran crossfire 4850's from release until last weekend without a single problem.

Think of a 60Hz t.v recieving a 50Hz signal, Imeage pulses, Screen goes bright, darker bright darker.

No texture problems and no screen tearing

Are you using one or two crossfire bridges?

Might be a dodgy one, try just using one and swap them over if it doesn't help.

Worth a go.

Hi Hex, I have removed one bridge was using two, yes is worth a go.

Also of note on a forum thread someone was saying it seems to affect x38 motherboards my x48 m/b is based on that board... and to try and re-install the chipset drivers.

I will try this first also this goes back to 2007 so this fault has been around a long time :-)
