4870 Crossfire

just installing my second card tonight and have a little worry my PSU isn't powerful enough.

can someone confirm whether it'll be ok for my setup?

i'm only at 1440x900 but next pay cheque will bring either a 22" or 24" monitor. Need an upgrade badly as my old ACL1916W is getting past it.

i have noticed my legs are a lot warmer now with two cards pumping hot air at me

I was thinking of doing the samething but I heard its not worth it with a P35 motherboard, is that still the case? I always game at 1680 by 1050.

well you will not get the maximum performance from the second card because the second pci-e slot is not x16, I think you get x4 or x1 on p35. If you want to stick with your 775 cpu you could try and find a cheap x38 motherboard or an x48 , though I find them to be fairly expensive

was considering getting another 48701gb for the fun of it, will have basically same setup (d0 i7, 1600mhz ram, v1 of the mobo) but i think my xfi would melt inbetween them :x

cheers mate. Have noticed i need to up my fan when benching as temps get hot and have had the comp restart a couple of times.

Would crossfire 4850's be ok with my antec earthwatts 500? It has 2x 6 pin connectors, got e8400 at stock, asus x38 mb (so 2x pci 2.0 16x I beleive, please correct if wrong) dvd-rw drive, 1 hard drive and 4gb ram. Got some spare cash but don't want to buy another PSU aswell...

Should be ok, although I'd also check out the 4770 if you can find them at good prices, very close to the 4850 but use less power
