I recently replaced the stock fan with and Artic Cooling Accelero turbo. I connected the fans directly to the power supply using the molex connector supplied.

My question is this: how do I control the fans speed and also measure it? Obviously rivatuner says the fan is at 0% as its not connected through teh card

Cheers

You can't when hooked up via the PSU. If you plug it directly into the card itself then you can manually set speeds in the Catalyst control centre.

Does it mean that when attached to the PSU directly then its always on 100%? I ask because mine certainly isnt running at 100% so how does it know what speed to run at?

Looks like I'll be plugging it into the board

I have the same setup and you have 3 options:

1 - plug into Graphics card header and control as normal through CCC or other prog

2 - plug ino molex adaptor using 12v connector (effectively this is running at max but not adjustable by software)

3 - plug into molex using 7v connector (slower speed so less noise but also not asjustable by software)

Hope that helps.

By the way what make is your 4870 and what temps did you get before & after?
