4870 nearly dead?

Ive had my ATi 4870 for over a year now and its started to crash in some games.
When it crashes, I get a totally black screen, sometimes with vertical white lines.

What I would like to know is, is it worth trying to get it replaced?
And how far away from totally dieing is it?

I dont have any cash to buy a replacement, so thats that option out.
 
if your getting lines on the screen it could be a video memory issue, if that is the case then its b0rked, have you tried cleaning it out and updating drivers? standard prcedure stuff.
