Having a bit of problems using the computer in my sig on a 37" tv. If i use a res of 1600x1200 or higher the desktop goes off the screen. Would it be something i can change in CCC or is it a setting on the tv im missing?

Have a play with 'overscan' in ccc, should sort it out, i had the opposite problem but either can be fixed within ccc.

i didnt expect it too but thats when the picture starts to go off screen it looks the same at 1920x1080 the highest res that fits is 1400x1050

It may just be me being blind! but where is the overscan scan feature?

Are you connected via HDMI? I'm able to drive my 40X3000 via HDMI with zero problems, but I remember an old Samsung L32 was a right POS with either a Nvidia or ATi card.

I am connected with a vga cable havnt got a hdmi yet! Its a LG 37"

I think its a setting on the tv as when i fiddle about with the tv i am able to get it so i either have the left side of the desktop and it disappears off to the right or i have right side of the desktop and it disappears off to the left!

Overscan option in CCC.

I struggled with this when I switched to a 1080p tv from a 2407, the image was always a bit blurred and bits off the screen.

I faffed with the NV control panel and changed the res and then scaled the screen using the TV which made it even worse.

Then, just before I took it back to the shop to give up I found a setting hidden in the TV menu called 1:1 and it turns out you have to tell it to map 1 pixel to 1 pixel or it'll try and fill the screen from the HD signal.. 1:1 makes it fit beautifully :)

So in short, I reckon it might be a TV setting not a GFX setting.

Starting to think it could also be windows 7 or the current version of ccc as my catalyst manager looks like this:

no "scaling" sub menu

That's because you're using VGA, can't you use HDMI instead? ATi CCC is very good with HDMI TVs in my experience. Mines picks up perfectly, set 1920x1080 @ 60hz and its all dandy.

Yeah its just very strange considering it works from my laptop! Just HDMI cables are expensive and wont use it that much!
