So I ordered the sapphire 4870 yesterday and to my surprise it arrived this morning...straight away I knew this was too good to be true, and I guess I was right :(

Running Vista 32, on a DFI RD600

I installed it and booted up, but the system crashes at the microsoft corporation bar. So I go into safe mode and try to install the drivers that way, and it tells me "Failed to load detection driver". I have never come across this error before, so I really don't know how to proceed from here.

I BEG YOU GUYS PLEASE HELP :(:(:(

What are your system specs, specifically psu? Are you trying to load the drivers form the supplied disc or have downloaded them? have you plugged in both power supply cables to the vidcard? have you got "netframe 3.5" already installed?

specs are qx6700 @
2gb 6400 ram
150gb raptor (the OS drive)
the PSU is a 700W seasonic modular, and it had 2 6-pin connecters coming off of 1 wire and I attatched both of them to the card.

Everything is on stock speeds atm.

I had the catalyst 8.7 downloaded before and that is what I tried to install first, then after that failed I tried the installation CD but it gives me the same error :(

dunno what is netframe but I presume it was already installed because I had catalyst 8.6 working with my x1950pro,

I am just really baffled as to why it crashes at the microsoft corporation loading bar.........

:S

lol so wierd......

I was just playing around in safe mode, checking device manager etc, but literally done nothing to CHANGE any settings. But done a reboot and it has magically booted up normally and now just installed the 8.7s. What the hell?

Why does it have to get me panicked like that

@ Firegod: Yea before I shut down to install the new card, I deleted all the drivers, but didn't use any driver cleaner, never have done because All the cards I had had have been ATI so there was really no need for it I think (no fanboy:p)
