Hi guys, was going to go for a 4850 but now the prices of the 1gig 4870s are only £30 more! Anyway I have a 500W seasonic S12, listed as 12V1 17a + 12V2 16a. Should this be enough? Theres not that much else running off it, e8400 @ stock, 1hdd.

That should be fine, I have a 8800 GTX and e8400 @ stock with more HDD and fans on Max draw from wall socket is 370w.

This shows a roughly how much power it uses.

With the over clocked version at 183w (and that's from the wall) so probably no more than 156w(13A) PSU to card.

Xbit labs test GPU power from PSU to graphics card, but their Testbed is a joke and will adversely affect their results.

It will be enough. My rig, in siggy, plus a pair of Sata ll hdd's, 5x fans and a Zalman ZM-MFC2 multifunction controller only draws a peak of 274w (at the wall) and that's when running Orthos and Fur stability test (CPU and GPU both at 100%) at the same time. Normal usage while gaming is 178-190w.
