Hi,

I've just bought a 4870 (should be arriving shortly), however I'm questioning my PSU. I have this power supply:

http://www.huntkey.com/eng/productmore.asp?id=666

It has 2 PCI-E connectors but I think they're on the same rail. Is this normal? I read the ATi website and it says the 4870 needs two 75watt PCI-E connectors and I don't have a clue whether mine are or not. Do graphics cards use the 12V rails?

I don't really know anything so any reassurance would be helpful :p

Oh, and will it damage the 4870 if my PSU isn't good enough?

Thanks,
KC

Should power it fine, as the 2x PCI-E connectors that the ATi website is talking about, is the 2x 6 Pin PCI-E connectors you have on your PSU, and the same rail is also fine.:)

Thanks for that. I'm probably just getting paranoid because I usually get brand name PSU's but I got the Huntkey because it was cheap but they don't seem like the greatest make!

Oh, and I forgot to ask..

Will it damage anything if my PSU doesn't have enough power?

How will I be able to tell if it doesn't?

Thanks,
KC.
if the psu as a power overload protection then no it won't damage anything, it will just cut off..

system will be unstable or may not boot or it will crash while gaming.
