4870 replacing thermal paste?

was wandering would it help the temps if i replace stock thermal paste to arctic silver or mx2?

currently idling at 45~47 degrees memory is a bit higher

overclocked to 790/970 5 minutes of ati tool no artifacts but temperatures reached around 80 c with memory at around 87

hi - after taking my card apart for my Trad review today - i can safely say that the thermal pads on the ram and the amount of TIM on the gpu under the stock cooler is outrageous

i would reccomend to all who feel capable of it that they put some of their own TIM on if they wanted better temps

obviously it would void the warranty

and also the ATI cards are known to run quite hot anyway

It was the first thing I did when I got my 4870
put arctic silver on it before I installed it

My Sapphire 4870 wasn't too bad. Generally you won't see that much benifit if your temps are normal. It's not worth loosing your warranty over.
