4870 went boom :-(

Ok so my 4870x2 went boom, according to the person who i phoned and sent it back to it was a manufacturing fault so ill get a new one back in a few days, the technician also said that i was only operating at about 30% of its capacity as theres a few things missing from the inside, he said was quite weird, any how i play WoW and i got 60FPS MAX at the best of times when people i know with the exact same setup as me were getting 100+ plus solid some even near 200, with the new card what can i expect frame wise seeing thought my old one never worked properley ?

Sounds like BS to me as how can a video card operate with 'a few things missing'. Dunno about WoW but there are plenty of reviews of the 4870 X2 on the web which will give you various fps info

Well its not BS m8, i just think it was a faulty card and the "few things missing" were cooling essentials apparently the cooler on the thing was for a different model and didnt cover both gpu's properley.

might want to edit out that sweary man, You may well get a holiday for it .

I doubt your fps will change much, but it wont die after such a short time.

if your old graphic card was only working off 1 gpu then u may see a good performance increase with the new card.

Did you untick v-sync in WoW?

Even my old 8800gts with full aa got well over 60 fps.

tried all sorts, oh well i only need to put up with this 2900 for 2 more weeks then back in to storage it goes.

On a serious note, FPS shouldn't be an issue

yes to the addict part but its mainly for games like gears of war and crysis
