hi all just wandering, i currently have a 4870 and was thinking of upgrading my gpu, is a 5870 better than 2 4870's, its just that a 5870 are about £330 and a second 4870 only £99.

im not bothered about dx11 just yet.

Yeah 5870's are way to much at the moment, go with another 4870. 5870 is better in some games than xfire 4870 but overall there is not much between them.

check out my build log in my sig.

i went from 2 x 4870 512mb to a single 5870.
performance wise they're the same but because it's a single card/gpu solution gaming is much smoother and you haven't got the power/heat issue you get with the old 4870's.

i'd recomend getting one deffinitely

I was in the same situation with 4850/5850, went for the second card, as it was a lot cheaper. Will probably end up upgrading to 2x5850 though :)

I'd say get a 4870 and if you find that crossfire isn't working you can sell both of your 4870's and make back at least the £99 and then look at a 58xx series card.
