Could someone confirm with me that this bios setting controls how much power the PCI-E slots are limited to, and if so ... what should this be set to for my 4870x2?

Cheers

i was under the assumption the pcie 2.0 just gives up to 75w never seen a bios setting to change it, mind you i could be wrong here. What are you trying to do anyway?

After uninstalling my graphics drivers today, I rebooted and then after about a minute or so my monitor would lose signal.

I had this problem a long time ago, which strangely turned out to be due to corrupt firmware on a sata hdd.

Today while trying to find a solution i found this GPP option which was set to 25w and upped it to 100w and the problem was gone

Just found this:

The PCIe 2.0 150W spec allows 75W from the slot and 75W from 6pin connector.
The slot will provide a maximum of 75W whether PCIe 1,2 or 3.

A card with one 6pin PCIe connector can have a maximum power draw of 150W.
A card with two 6pin PCIe connectors can have a maximum power draw of 225W.
A card with an 8pin connector and also a 6pin connector can have a maximum power draw of 300W

So why i wonder is mine limited to 25w .... if that is what the setting is for!
