4870x2 has died

Morning guys,

Was playing BFBC2 yesterday when the game froze and artifacts started to appear on the screen when i tried to CTRL+ALT+DELETE out of the game.

Turned PC off then back on and got the BIOS screen with loads of blue 'dashes' down the screen.

Took the card out and everything works fine, put it back in all i get is a black screen and none of my USB devices work.

So, by the looks of things the 4870x2 has given up on me which means i need a new card!

I have a budget of about £200 but can go over by a little bit. I need a card that will be future proof and will play BF3 when it comes out

Sorry to hear about the death of your 4870x2, Still using mine touch wood not a hiccup so far!

I have been looking at the 6950 but the 480 seems to be slightly better and it's the same price.

Yep, decided to get the 480 as the price is great.

Was going to get it from another place as it's just round the corner but they had it for £310

480 is fantastic! Good choice i bought one when they were £195 and i havent looked back! It plays every game and from the reviews i read it can get a tad bit noisy and hot, but mine runs practically silent and doesnt go above 80c on load

Well i'm used to the 4870x2 noise and it can't be worse then that!

I use headphones anyway so doesn't really bother me!
