Hi

Yesterday i purchased a powercolor 4870x2 , im a bit concerned with the GPU temps on idle. According to GPU-Z my first GPU is at 44c when idle but the 2nd GPU is showing 83 when idle!

When i open up CCC overdrive it shows the same temps but always shows the 2nd GPU activity as 186%!

My case is an antec 1200 with all fans flat out

Any ideas ?

Update : Ive just realised that GPU Z and CCC are actually showing the 1st GPU with the high temps not the 2nd ! and CCC showing the 1st GPU activity as 186% even when im not running any games or apps!

Its strange to have such a large difference between each gpu, and obviously 186% usage isn't possible. I do know that early versions of gpu-z had problems reading the new radeons with crazy core readings of like 74593497ghz! What version drivers are you using?

Also try this softmod:

Change the value to "manual" and Want value to "65"

Save the file then reload your profile in catalyst.

65% seemed perfect for me, 70% was loud but you may need it if your case has poor air flow.

I used 30% for my 4870. I originally found my temps were always at 78degrees at idle and full load but once I adjusted the fan it seemed to start reporting temps correctly - now I get 50ish idle and around 70ish at full load
