Struggling to find an answer on this so I thought I'd ask here. Why do both the 4870X2 gpus not run at 3D clocks in some games (namely DX9 games)?

Ones on 3D clocks and the other at 2D. Whenever I play Starcraft 2 it happens and can't help, but think that is what is causing the slow downs. The second core on 2D clocks has just over 50% usage so it is being utilised, just not fully. In Bad Comapny 2 I have no issues and both run at their full rated clock speeds.

Im using Cat 10.7 with the 10.7 profiles.

One core not running at 3d clocks was a very common problem with these cards I believe. (in fact I don't know of any other problems with them!)

Think it's RMA time. Of course... I could be, and am prepared to be wrong.

Im pretty sure its a software issue to be honest. I rolled back all the way back to 9.5 cats for a laugh and they forced the correct memory clocks on the second gpu, but just didn't bump up the core clocks. Also as I said Bad Company 2 works flawlessly and these latest drivers perform exactly how you'd expect them to.

Its just annoying that some games are ok and some aren't. Its a great card, but these drivers are all over the place and don't perform as they should. I think i'll be going back to a single gpu fairly soon. I really need to watch my power consumption anyway :p

Interesting. Glad i am wrong. Seen loads of people rma them for the same issue, so would be ace if fixable. you using or letting any oc software to run in the background?

tried reinstalling .net?
