4870x2 Problem!

It will be likely that my new card will either be a 6750 (or 6970) and OcUK shop recommends a minimum 450W PSU for one I looked at so it seems 650W will be more than ample for it.

The GTX 580 is another possible contender and it seems that it only requires 244 Watts from the OcUK store page so it seems my PSU will be ample for both cards, which I decide upon later.

Am I making the right assumptions here?

Checked the voltages and there seem fine:

12v = 12.42 stable
5v = 4.97 stable
3.3V = 3.36 stable

Everything seems fine now, crysis over.

Hopefully it was just a one off. After I performed a very thorough clean on mine I thought it was going to play up, or worse. Thankfully nothing came of it, so hopefully yours will remain well behaved as mine did, and last you until BF3 comes out.

It is still a beast! Eat's pretty much anything I throw at it. Struggles a bit with Empire Total War, its hard to get all the whistles and bells on the campaign map, but its fine without. It's the only game where it totally maxes the temps!

Getting a newer card in the autumn though, upgrade time for BF3 and others, so I may be back in this forum again later on in the year to ask for more newbie help!

+1 mine has the Accelero Xtreme cooler so is hush.....quiet.

but I think an upgrade for sure when BF3 arrives....I think even BFBC2 is a stretch at anything over 1680 x 1050 starts to struggle a little.

be interesting what will be around come autum....might upgrade the entire PC, well it has been 3.5 years :) :cool:
