I have just ordered a 4870x2, now i have searched the forums and can not find an answer really. I have a be quiet Dark power pro 550watt psu and was wondering if it would run this card ok, it states on AMDs single card certification that it does then on the crossfire certification that it doesnt.

Rest of my system is;

Q6600 @ 3ghz
4x2gb ram
2 hdd`s
soundblaster Xfi

Link to the AMD certification thingy!

I would have thought it will be quite close - may run it ok, but if you start getting crashes (esp in games) I'd look at the PSU first.

Was running an XFX 4870x2 with an OCZ StealthXtreme 600W - managed it no probs with an overclocked i7 setup.

i had a hiper 580 an just bought a HD4870x2 aswell, didn`t take the chance an got a corsair 1000w ...

used one of them online PSU checkers :

an with my sys specs it was too dam close for comfort ... even if they where being genorous with the est: i didn`t wanna take the chance

so now i know iam set for a long time with out havin to think will my psu cut it .

my opinion m8 i`d be looking @ the biggest u can afford above 600w or better , also u`ll need x1 8 pin connector an x1 6pin connector for ya card aswell ;)

It is recommended to have at least a 650W PSU to run one of those bad boys...I have an 800W PSU and it copes very well :D

Under load that system is likely to draw 400-450w or so. So you are getting a little close to the limit. However, what's more important is the amps available on the 12v rail.

Hi, thanks for that. I believe there is a total of 44amps on the 12v rails!

Specification: +3,3V: 24A, +5V: 30A, +12V1: 20A, +12V2: 20A, +12V3: 20A, +12V4: 20A, -12V: 0,8A, +5VSB: 4A (peak 5A)#

If that makes any sense!
