I have serious heat issues with my Sapphire 4870X2

n559054651_1443176_2302.jpg

Its all clean even with the case open fur mark artifacts and temps hit 80

Fan speed = 50%
Idle = 38
1 Minute Markfur = 76
Drivers= 9.1
Clocking= Stock

Any advice?

Try it with the fan at 100%. It will sound like a jet engine however :(. I normally leave it at 60-70%when gaming.

The 4870x2 just seems like a card that could really use a decent 3rd party cooler.

I noticed some artifacting in Vantage at stock too, but it went away when I reduced the voltage on my system ram. Possibly unrelated but maybe worth a look.

I wouldn't have thought 80c was to hot my 260gtx reach 85c easily.
Is it just fur mark that has the problem or is it showing artifacts in games to.

80c at 100% fan is not normal for my card.... at 100% when the card was new it stressed Furmark at about 53c now its hitting 80c

the card idles fine though at 36c

Cleaned the fans and the heatsink.

Hmm thats interesting. if i disable overdrive it runs at 90c stable with case open but without artifacts and idles at 70c.

the card is certainly reaching those temps and not reporting a flse negative as the heat coming out is enough to warm my coffee

i wonder if its a 9.1 bug? possible overclocking te card? i tryed setting CC to defualts and then use fan speed to 100% with no luck

control panel says no its not overclocked. i was just speculating the possability of the new driver update overclocking without me knowing but reporting stock speeds. it was just an idea
