4890 + 4850 XFire?

As per title, I've got a 4890 brand new coming back from RMA soon and I've just picked up a cheap 4850 to tide me over until my 4890 is back.

However, I'm wondering if these will work in Xfire together or not? And if they do... will the the 4890 be reduced down to 4850 performance... but still possibly beat the single 4890? I R Nab to Xfiring things but would love to give it a try!

Think the 4890 will be reduced to 4850 level. Still should offer a decent boost over just the 4890. How much vRam does the 4850 have though, 512mb or 1gb?

In that case your 4890 will only use 512MB of vRam since the 4850 won't be able to keep up with the 1GB on the 4890 and it isn't just 512mb + 1GB = 1.5GB of vRam. I'd say stick with the single 4890 at your res since it'll benifit from the extra vRam and sell your 4850/keep it for spares or for when you run into another GPU problem.

Ok mate cheers, I'll be running at 1680 on this computer (2nd computer with new screen) so once the 4890 is back i'll either flog it for same price or keep it as spare!
