Buying a new system and i've been out of the graphics card loop for a long time and so i'm asking for some advice on what to get in the ~£150 price range.
I'll likely be playing at 1920x1200 where possible and would like the card as quiet as possible....so maybe some brands are quieter than others?

Are the 4890 and 5770 on a par performance wise at 1920x1200 or thereabouts?
I believe the 5770 runs cooler and hence is quieter?
Or am i better going for an Nvidia card of some flavour?

Proposed spec is:-
i7 920 2.66Ghz
Asus P6T SE
OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel
Hanns.G 28" @ 1920x1200
W7 Pro 64bit

imo 4890 is the best ~£150 card avail atm, the only real benefit 5770 has over it is DX11,
and lets be honest your framerates whilst using DX 11 will plummet and you'll have to scale back anyway,

4890 *** mate

I'd second the 4890 :)

You've got the option to crossifre on your board though, maybe search the MM and try get a hold of 2 4870's.

For a single card the 4890s performance outweighs the "quietness" and less power-consuming 5770 in my opinion. However perhaps getting a 5770 and possibly Crossfiring in the future is a possible step? That way it will still have low power-consumption, low(er) levels of noise with some good Dx11 capabilities; it all depends on what you would rather have:
i) single screen gaming for current games and not bothered about the "Dx11 Hype"; i.e. you want best bang-for-buck possible at the moment.
ii) single screen gaming for current and up-coming games and wish to utilise Dx11 (which is only really going to be possible to do well with 2x 5770s) and not bothered about a small performance hit for the time being.

Your choice :)

Yea, they run more quietly than the other 4890s.

I should hope they do, they use slightly different components and actually use a watercooling system within the card, it's quite clever actually :D
I think I would still prefer to get the cheapest one though, noise doesn't particularly bother me :)

Located from a review site:
At the back end of the card we see that the 4890 requires 2x 6-pin PCI power cables to be connected despite the cards revised power circuitry.
So presumably the PSU you linked should work as it has a x6 and x6+2 (you don't have to connect the +2).
