4890 - 5830

The 4890 is a couple of fps ahead in current benches but that will prob reverse when drivers are improved. the 5830 also has DX11 support and runs a lot cooler drawing less power, the 4890 can be mistaken for a space heater during heavy use

you should dig deep and get a 5850 they overclock to 1Ghz if you get the correct card and are far better.

Complete Tosh, Mine has Never been over 72c even after a 3 hour gaming sesh.
In my opinion it's not a big enough improvement to warrant the expence.

^Both. Had enough of the fan no my 4890. Accelero Twin Turbo going on it this weekend. Performance is still good enough for me to make an upgrade a bit of a waste

The 4890 isn't that hot. Also the 5830 is about 1/3 more expensive but not that much faster to bother raising as a point.

Do you want to pay that much over the 4890 for DX11?

I made a few comments on my impressions here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=16503833&postcount=29

With the 10.3 drivers, the 5830 gained some nice improvements. It is, as mentioned above, essentially a 4890 with DX11, but does have some bigger improvements depending on titles.

It overclocks quite well however giving it a more clear adavantage over a 4890 and if you get one with a good cooler (I got the Powercolor one which has a 5870 cooler) it runs with very low temps and quiet.

Don't pay more than £160 for one however. You can get a 5850 for around £220 delivered these days.
