4890 and prototype major slow down in framerates

i have just installed prototype and started playing it

the game is awesome but does anyone else get any huge slow down and stutters in framerates when playing the game?

i have it running at 2048x1152 all max settings normally frames are about 50-60

Did you find a way to fix performance?

And if you think that's bad, I'm getting 25 FPS at 1280 x 800! Not even allowed native 1650 x 1050. Seems you get limited with < 512MB VRAM, get all resolutions if < 1GB VRAM but they haven't accounted for anyone with 2 Gb VRAM so you get limited to low res!

If Activision don't correct this (as they don't appear to have produced a patch for the game) could new ATI drivers fix it?
