I am planning on getting a 4890 but thought I would wait until the versions with non standard coolers came out, as I considered my previous reference HD2900XT too loud (has anyone heard anything new on when these are expected?). However I have just noticed that OcUK do not currently seem to stock many of the 4870 versions with the manufacturers "enhanced cooling" such as the HIS IceQ4+ or the Sapphire Toxic/VaporX. Is this because the extra cooling is not really worth the extra cost?

Would I be better off getting one of the current batch and getting a third party cooler at a later date? Are any of the current add on coolers compatible with the 4890, if not do we know when compatible coolers will be available?

Thanks

im not sure if ocuk stock HIS cards anymore but there should be 4890 Toxic shortly. u can always ad aftermarket cooler if u not happy with stock one .

i have 4870 with stock cooler as it is same as 4890. it gets loud if u use 35% + fan speed. im using it at 30% does the job for me fine.

Nice looking card, my powercolour 4870 is similar to this, heat pipes and fan, idles between 30 - 40 C so this 4890 one should be good too. Cracking cards, powercolour.
