Well I fitted my nice shiny new sapphire 4890.
But here's the problem, If I play a game or run 3Dmark Vantage, the whole system freezes with a blank screen.
This is on standard clocks.
I have tried reinstalling the 9.7 drivers, (no difference).
I have an enermax 620 psu and am starting to think is that the problem ?
Not enough power ?, Although my 4870 512 ran fine.
Any help or advice much appreciated.
Spec is in sig.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Temps are actually 10 degree's lower than the 4870.
I have just run a 3d vantage test again on stock settings, and all was ok this time.
So using auto tune in CC, I let it auto overclock and ran Vantage again, It froze after the third test.
When it freezes the screen is always a solid colour, ie blue, brown or mainly black.
Faulty card ?
Running windows 7 rc1 x64 by the way.

Right so we can rule out temps and PSU which is good, but stil not sure.

You say it ran OK at stock? You could just have the misfortune of getting a really bad clocker I guess, what speeds is the autotune setting it to? In my experience it gets a little optimistic sometimes.

Vantage and games will freeze sometimes even with the graphics card at stock settings.
I have my cpu overclocked to 3.61 (with stock voltage) runs prime stable for 20 hrs.
I have ordered a new 780w psu, which I will need to crossfire in the future.
So I will see if that makes any difference, If not I know that I have a faulty card and will RMA it.
Thanks for any help.

I had problems with 9-7 but mines on vista so what do you expect your on win 7 so I guess your unlucky

is all your power connected? I forgot to connect one of my cards onces O_O i was annoyed and tired as I hadbeen trouble shooting it for hours

Temps are :
Display 58 degrees
Memory 65 degrees
Shader 58 degrees
Funny thing is GPUZ is showing my core clock at 240mhz ? on the sensors screen but 870mhz on the graphics screen ?

All conections are fine and I have reseated the card.
Have downloaded the 9.8 beta's.
Something I find strange is that I am now unable to overclock my cpu.
Unless its at stock the computer just hangs at start up.
PSU ??

Have ordered a new 780w psu.
And gonna RMA the card, so that should sort the problem.
Thanks for your help :)
Ill let you know if its fixed.
