about to build a new gaming/htpc rig and trying to decide if it is worth going for a 4890 or 5770 gfx card, given that 5850 and 5870 are scarce, there would be the intention of x-fire at some point, so what has the best performance without overclocking, btw going i5 750 route

tnx

The 4890 is around 25% quicker in current titles. I'd say it depends on what screen resolution you want to run at and how long you're likely to go until your next upgrade.

Personally, I'd be happy to drop some FPS knowing that my card supported DX11. The 5770 is also very power efficient and scales very well in crossfire.

EDIT:

Just found this review: http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1703&pageID=7756

The crossfired 4890's are way ahead in most of the benchmarks, but the crossfired 5770's do surprisingly well in a few of them.

If you want quiet then get the 5770, if you want performance then get the 4890 (I did just this last week).
