can any one help me i am getting a new 4890 but just before i buy does anyone no which is the quietest model. thanks

All are loud, have to wait for the custom cooled ones to appear.

Eugh no they arn't.

If you keep the fan at 30%, which should (assuming you don't OC it too much) keep it at temps that are absolutely fine, it makes no more noise than a case fan.

If you run the fan at high speeds needlessly then yes, it's going to be loud, but the same is true for almost anything.

last i saw some of the newer 1Ghz + overclocked ones were going to be launching soon with the zerotherm cooler which looks far better, though being they are highly overclocked models and other than the cooler identical to stock i'd assume they'll be £200+.

I'd say just buy a normal one for as cheap as possible and find something 3rd party to stick on, though if the only decent cooler is £30 you might be best off saving warranty and grabbing an overclocked jobby for £200.

Go for the Asus 4890. It's the cheapest and it's got a voltage tweak which allows for extra overclocking. Very good price.

I don't think my 4890 is loud and it mostly runs folding@home (l know the 4890 is not the best card for folding from a performance/cost ratio) most of the time. From what l am aware l have no hearing problems either :D

I'm currently running mine at 950MHz / 1100MHz on stock voltage and with automatic control on the cooler, and it's no noiser than the rest of the box, fan sits about 30% - 50% depending on load.

I think I will Get the asus one then if the stock coolers are all the same us the asus 4890 is the cheapest.
