My PSU came with PCI-E cables that had a single 6-pin connector on each end - one goes into the PSU, the other into the graphics card. I need two of these, but I only have one (it came with more, but I can't get to the others right now, wont' be able to for a week yet). The card, however, came with a pair of cables that have TWO 3-pin connectors on one end, and a single 6-pin connector on the other end which goes into the graphics card.
The quick install guide that came with my XFX 4890, however, shows a diagram of two 'good' power connections and two 'bad' power connections. the 'good' ones show the 6-pin to 6-pin cables and 8-pin to 8-pin cables. The 'bad' ones show a pair of 4-pins going into a 6-pin, and a pair of 6-pins going into an 8-pin. It doesn't show a pair of 3-pins going into a 6-pin.
So: can I use these 2x 3-pin to 1x 6-pin connectors they gave me?
Also, do I plug the 3-pin connectors into the 4-pin molex connectors coming off my PSU (they look like a 4-pin, only one is missing)?
Thanks
