Ok lads the 4890 died last night. Now i have been offered another 4890 as a replacement OR a 5770 . Gamewise i dont play as often as i used to but this could change later this year as a lot of good games are going to be released. Do you think i should go for the new 5770 , windows 7 x64 pro with i7 920 @ 3.33 is the rest of the system.

The 4890 is a better card in terms of its performance level using DX10 games then the 5770. In its corner the 5770 uses less power and runs quiter due to less heat generated.

In terms of whats the best value, 4890 still fetch more 2nd hand then 5770's so if i was you i would get the 4890.

I would go with the 5770.

Performance is similar (though the 4890 will be slightly quicker in most cases), but the 5770 offers increased functionality (DX11), lower power usage, and better overclockability. Also, you will have the option to add a second 5770, which then becomes quite a powerful setup.

5770 is fair bit slower than the 4890, but its benefit is that it can play games in dx11 mode.

Judging from your PC spec in your sign, I think your best option is get the 5770 as replacement, and get a 2nd one to xfire in the future when you feel that you are starting to struggle in games.

will check DX11 games , i dont want to buy a DX 11 card IF DX11 games are going to be released in a year or two.

Yea. If there's a dx11 game that you like enough and play all the time, but struggle a little with a single 5770 (even after overclocking), getting another 5770 to xfire would be an 'option' worth considering to boost performance.

The 4890's value will only continue to drop as more and more dx 11 games and newer cards are being released.
