Hello all, with all of the reviews of the 4890 etc I have not really seen any mention of it's support for sound? Would it be better to use motherboard sound or the likes provided by the 4890?

How does the 4890 provide the sound to your system, I read it comes through HDMI which is helpful, but not when your monitor doesn't have speakers? So how does it get to my speakers?

Motherboard I'm using is a P6T - Be aware I don't have this hardware yet, so sorry if it's covered in the user manual!

Thanks in advance,

Rob

The ATI HDMI sound support is aimed at people who have their PC's connected to a 40" LCD lounge TV or similar. If your using a monitor without sound then you can you can just connect your speakers to the onboard audio.

Yeah, the sound is really just meant as an option for the convenience of HDMI. It's not really a substitute for your onboard sound.
