Looking to buy an ATI 4890 to replace my ageing 8800GT.

Which is better between the XFX & Asus?

Also do you think a format and reinstall will be required?

Thanks

No format and reinstall is needed.

Personaly I would just ask yourself "Do I want HAWX?" and "Do I want to OC my card?"

The Asus has voltage tweak software for higher clocks but the XFX comes with HAWX, so your choice realy, both brands have a good rep.

Thanks for the reply.

Think I'll go for the Asus in that case. I have enough games to get through as it is!

xfx's warranty has really sucked in the past but now

***EXCLUSIVE Premium Priority 2 Year Warranty***

In the unlikely event of your card failing within 2 Years, OcUK will replace your card with a brand new one, pending testing within our standard RMA terms and conditions (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/support.php)

i would get the xfx card simply for this.

I didn't realise the XFX came with that warranty, that's actually really tempting.

Will the XFX overclock similar to the Asus?

Thanks

Ordered the XFX because of the special warranty.

Hopefully it'll be a nice improvement over my 8800gt!

Thanks again

I have the XFX 4890 card and it really is good and yes you can overclock no problems default is 850mhz / 975, tried out 900mhz GPU and 1000mhz Memory and ran it for 2hrs no problems running CO4 and an a hour on UT3, temps were about 61c - 64c, but card was fine, no jet engine noises...Properly could have gone higher, but I'm happy with defaults..eats up all my old games, UT3, COD4, COD4 WAW, Burnout Paradise [excellent] , Crysis Full Max settings :D

The Asus has a 3 year warranty...

granted it isn't an instant replace but still :)
