Bought a new xfx 4890. and man am i NOT happy. wont even play shift. and when i play grid for about 5 min the screen comes blank like theres no signal and i have to turn it off. All grid setting are on max but only running a 1280/1024. and this is in my sisters pc god no's whats going to happen to it in mine. think i might send it back and get a second hand 4870x2. never had any problems with that...

seems odd that XFX once seems to have problems...

what powersupply have you got in your sisters PC? I throught it was in your rig till I read the second time :p

Shouldnt be having those problems with GRID, I play it MAX everything 8XAA @ 1920x1200 using a 4890 and a older CPU. avg 60-75 FPS.

Reinstall drivers or even try another OS see what happens, I'm using Windows 7 X64

there a 500w psu. and its on vista. anyone had problems with shift and that card?

What brand 500w PSU? Because if its an unbranded cheap 1 then I think thats where your problem is, Especially if it works for 5 minutes then cuts out then its your PSU.
I play SHIFT on max everything 4xAA 1920x1200 with about 50 fps. can you take your own PSU and try it on thier PC?

its a casecom. i cant take out my psu because it connnected to everything and would take hours to unwind and unclip/cut zip tags. how can i tell if psus maxing out?

try that card on your PC in sig I noticed you have a decent PSU if it runs fine than power supply would be of a issue

and case com sounds a bit you know, lol one thing you can't skinp on sorry to say

yes, not by much through, if overclocked they would go about the same speed as a GTX295, if you got a good cpu and depending on game etc

Its well known Shift runs crap on ATi cards, even runs rubbish on mine (see sig), supposed to be a patch coming out that sorts ATi issues out, but no ones knows when yet.

Sounds similar to a problem I have with my 4870 xfx. My power supply is definitely up to scratch, but my screen kept going black on graphically intense games. Grid and crysis were the main culprits. Had to send it back in the end, hopefully I'll get my replacement soon.

Theres your problem, 500w casecom (never heard of it) and trying to run a 4890, replace the PSU and all will be fine.
