Hi,
Having managed to convince myself that OLED is not going to immediately burn in and ruin my experience, I am now torn between the Samsung Odyssey G9 95SC on offer at £800 or the Philips Evnia 8900L on sale at £680. The Samsung has a higher refresh rate and HDMI 2.1, and it also has a flat stand, which would eliminate the need for an expensive monitor arm in my use case. The Evnia has "only" a 144hz refresh, HDMI 2.0 (but does have DP 1.4), annoying stand legs, but does have a burn-in warranty. It also has Ambiglow, which would match with my hue lights, and allow some bias lighting out of the box. I do currently have a hue play bar attached to the back of my current monitor to simulate this effect.
I'm currently running a 3080 and intend to upgrade to a 50 series in the new year. When I game, I mostly play single player rpgs and the like (Cyberpunk, Dragon Age, BG3, etc).
Am I cutting myself off with the lack of HDMI 2.1? Is the higher refresh rate actually going to improve my experience at all? Is there another alternative I should consider?
TIA
