Hey guys,

Just played my first game on the new monitor. OMG!

Its only 3840x1080 but looks great tbh in BF5. Couldnt notice any FPS issues, screen tearing, stuttering or lag!

I am only running it at 120hz atm, but still feels great.

And I believe im correct in saying that a 3840x1080 monitor is a little more demanding against a 1440p monitor? is that correct?

And was running that res, at ultra settings on a 64 man conquest map, averaging around 90-100 fps and when I finished I had temps of :

GPU peak : 65c
CPU peak : 56c

So over the moon overall. And yes, I do realise some games wont fancy that res. such as CS:GO etc..but I dont mind the sidebars for some games!

Just tried to setup CS:GO on this screen to see ho wwe get on. And trying to set is a nightmare.

I cannot get the side bars to come in enough from (4:3). The image still seems "streched".

Does anyone have any programs / settings to get games to come off the very edge, as it looks silly on a 49" monitor.

Think I have to face the facts..

Love this monitor. Games I have played (COD, EFT, BFV etc..) all run great and take advantage of 3840x1080, but, CS GO doesnt :(

Tried all settings and cannot get it to display right. So might have to just deal with it

Turn on GPU Scaling in NVCP, this will render the resolution on the GPU so the display still thinks it's receiving 32:9 but in reality it's 4:3 with black bars.

If so, can you tell me what options to select, its currently untouched at default.

Curios as to which 49" monitor? your using.

Im using an "electriq" monitor, I just wanted to see how the quality was and how I found a 49" monitor before changing. And tbh, I love it, 49" is a great size for my uses, and im suprised by the quality of this monitor, so probably wont be upgrading to a ASUS or SUMSUNG or such!

@kasakka

you sir, are a legend!

I selected "override the scaling mode set by games and programs"

And loaded up CS:GO and I got the 1920x1080 with black bars just like what I was after! :D:D:D

Thanks a million mate!

could my pc run one you think ? has a gtx970 rest in the sig below i play wow mostly.

I worked it out, and to drive this 3840x1080 monitor, is slightly higher than a 1440p one. Im not 100% sure, but I think for A+++ games it might struggle..im using a 2070super atm.

okay thanks i'll hold off for a bit then till i'm ready for a new pc build

I'm considering one of these. How close do you sit and do you have to move your head a fair bit during games? What do you think of the resolution at this size?

probably sit around between 2, and 2 and a half feet. Any surprisingly find my head movement to be less than I expected in games that utilise the full screen res. And the resolution to me is totally fine, even coming from a 1440p 32" display.

I also wondered what framerates you're getting, I'd be using a Vega 56 to power one

FPS wise, on my "test" game, of BFV, conquest (64 man) multiplayer, at 3840x1080 on ultra detail, im getting around 85-100 fps constant, on my 8700k and 2070s.

Im blown away with this screen, and res. Wont be going back now, but before I bought one I honestly didnt think a 49" would hold up to be better tbh.

i have a sammy 49" 1080p screen and you have to just keep messing around with the settings until games are displayed correctly, I have manage to get all my games looking nice on the screen. I have made a custom res of 2560x1080 for most of my games because the full res messes with my head as there's too much going on.

How do you get on with your 5700XT on that screen?

Can you please give me a few games you play, and sort of FPS / temps you get and at what setting? (im assuming you stay on 3840 x 1080) for gaming?

I've just bought the C49RG90 what an immense thing it is, run it on a Mac Mini with a 5700XT in a Core X EGPU enclosure. Works great in Windows 10 once got past the Error 12 and looks great in Assetto Corsa.

Whilst I do love my samsung 49" monitor, I think a 4k 55 inch tv, with a custom res of 3840*1440 for gaming and the full 4k for watching films, youtube etc was almost as good, and maybe a bit more versatile, I think some of the samsung tv's even do 120hz at that res

the 5120*1440 res of the samsung 49" monitor is a bit taxing on my gtx1080ti so I don't really get the benefit of the monitors 120hz refresh rate, I guess at least I have something to look forward to, when gpu's are a bit more capable (I'm skipping 2080ti, maybe I'll get one if if its a bargain though)
