I have tried everything to try and get the volts required for vcore down as low as possible. The get handbrake stable I need 1.33volts and to get prime 95 stable 1.4volts. Note game stable is a lot less than 1.3volts. If anyone has any ideas please let me know, everyone else seems to get stable with a lot less voltage.

Found a way of reducing vcore a lot, testing in prime 95 at 1.32vcore in BIOS. Using a PPL of 1.4volts.

I hate Auisuite its bloatware for me!! I never install it but its your call.

To reduce temps you can try VTT and VCCSA at 0.95v to 1v at those mem speeds you wont need more. This will help with temps and may mean less Vcore needed for stablility.

Do you use prime as a day to day task for your PC?? If not don't use it to test. Just use your PC that will give you the best idea of what volts you need for a stability of your system.

You want to use a good overclocking tool for ASUS use Turbo Vcore. Everything can be adjusted on the fly and it does not clog the OS.

Will give turbo vcore a try. Running real bench at 1.285vcore and PLL ar 1.25volts.

1.35volt vcore and 1.25volt PLL is stable in prime 95 on a 125 strap for a blk of 128.625 x 36 or 4500MHz. Stable realbench is at about 1.33volts. Volts in CPU-z is 1.36volts vcore. This is a reduction from 1.425 to 1.36volts via tuning. What would you advise other than prime 95 for testing?

Testing 1.335 Volts vcore at 1.25volts PPL, these are the only changes from above. Vcore in cpu-z is 1.344 volts.

Testing 1.35 Volts vcore at 1.25volts PPL, changes made for 24/7 operation. Vcore in cpu-z is 1.36 volts.
Fails small fft but passes blend.
Testing 1.37 Volts vcore at 1.25volts PPL. Vcore in cpu-z is 1.374 - 1.392 volts.
Pass all prime 95 tests (2-4hours each test), handbrake and memtest86+ Tests temps are 72C approx. in Prime 95 max.
Doing idle tests and game tests but have no issues so far.

Strange issues I had with some programs have stopped happening. For example I can now run netflix in firefox, random resets are gone after dropping blk lower from 129-130 and also freezes in netflix. Random issues in some of my games have gone which I had in both the 4770k and 2500k. I still have a strange boot issue, it will reboot very quick when I power on for the first time but will boot and run completely okay after this reboot. This does not always happen.

Would using offset instead of manual voltage on vcore get rid of the bootup reset first time from cold boot?

Hi Zx

I also have the cold boot problem as do many, many ASUS mobo users.

I never really de-power my PC from the socket and I've got to be honest, it doesn't bother me, nor does it damage my PC.

I am using a offset of +0.005 @ 46 multi on my 4930k.

It max's at 1.23v and nearly always -1.0v when on the desktop. I recommend trying an offset setting once your comfortable.

I just found out that my overclock was unstable, it started crashing in prime95 right away. So I switched from one stable over clock profile to another and now I an stable again with the same vcore (a bit lower).

Issue found to be ram related, RAM timings changed and everything is as it should be. Seems to take four weeks plus for the overclock to settle. Upgraded the BIOS to 603, so far no issues at startup and USB hard disks now work.

4.6Ghz appears stable above 1.4volts, go for it or leave at 4.5Ghz?

Wow I can do 4.5 at 1.3v and 4.7 is about my max at 1.39 im happy with 4.5ghz and descent volts, have you followed the x79 guide my pics (settings) and 8 packs suggests are on page 5, really tho don't go with prime go with everyday usage.

I would leave 4.5g if your at 1.4v now. for 100mhz not worth pushing 1.5 or so.

This morning my overclock fell apart and I could not get 4.5Ghz stable no matter what. Was able to get 4.4Ghz stable, so thought this is it I have degraded the CPU. So I tried everything and found inrush current option very interesting.

So I tried the 4.5Ghz auto overclock to see if it would be stable and bang stable again at 4.5Ghz under 1.4volts. The only real thing that had changed was that the RAM timing were now defaults and not the XMP settings. This is strange as I tested the RAM at the settings they were before and had no issues. I am not really using much above stock for the IMC.

1.65volts to 1.67volts has fixed the issue with ram for now.
