4970k Stock cooler temp.

Hello, i'm just looking to find out if anyone knows roughly the correct temps for a 4970k on stock volts(1.2 for me) using the stock cooler, preferably one thats been delidded.

I recently started getting very high CPU temps so i had to drop my overclock, i tried replacing the TIM on the IHS but its made no difference. I'm thinking the problem is either the waterblock has debris in the fins and its struggling to cool properly or the contact between the die and the IHS has gone bad again which it has in the past when i've been moving my PC between houses. The rest of the loop is cooling fine so i ruled out pump etc.

I figure the easiest way to check is to just pull the CPU block off and bang a stock cooler on to see what temps im getting rather than removing the IHS or taking the water loop to bits. If my temps are around normal i'll know the IHS contact is good and i just need to clean the block out, if the temps are bad it saves me draining the loop and ill just take the IHS off and put some new CPL in there.

I use Realbench stress test to put it under load but i can check any program you guys use if ya used another to get a fair comparison.

Realbench is good enough, I find 3d mark causes a slightly higher max cpu temperature, but if it's too hot in realbench, it's too hot.

What max temps are you getting exactly?

Im getting around 80 at stock speeds, i was getting around 90 overclocked and actually started getting resets after the GPUs had heated up the loop in games. If someone can gimme a rough temp with stock cooler i'll know what i should be getting so i can either drain the loop and clean the block or strip the CPU and sort out the contact issue. I've never tried the stock cooler on a CPU so i have no clue what temp is normal for stock speeds otherwise i would have just banged it on and sorted it by now probably.

I have reglued the IHS so i dont wanna strip that if its not the issue as its a pain, and same for the loop, it takes along time to bleed with 4 rads and 2 GPU blocks so i dont wanna mess with that if thats not the issue, just trying to save my self a lot of unnecessary work if i can.

80 is not good for stock speed temps!

I'd drain the loop, flush it with silver coil killer and refill. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/mayhems-fine-silver-kill-coil-wc-022-mh.html

If there is any algae buildup in the block or elsewhere then the silver coil will zap it and hopefully clear it. A ball ache for sure but if you're tried other things then it's a step you'll have to consider.
