Is their much difference between the 2? I dont notice any difference with 4 AA or with no AA. The shadows on COD 5 are very jaggied with 4AA.

0xAA to 4xAA should give a very noticeable difference, wheres as 4xAA to 8xAA is very minor. Basically the differences get smaller and smaller as the AA levels increase.

As for COD5, are you sure you're not forcing AA off in CCC? AA should be set as 'application controlled' in CCC and then turned on via the game options. If this doesn't work, force it in CCC.

Also, probably silly question, but are you playing at your monitors native resolution? If not, then the effect of AA can be less visible.

Finally, shadows can sometimes seem jagged, because many games render them at lower resolution to the rest of the graphics, in order to increase performance.

Im running at my standard res ye, i am using a very old crt monitor which blurs now lol, i buying a new LCD monitor in month so im sure i will notice it more.

4XAA is more then enough, as for shadows with jaggies thats nothing to do with 4xAA vs 8xAA, shouldnt be effecting shadows unless the developers have enabled a higher quality shadow option when enabling 8xAA in game.

Shadows are a texture that is projected onto a primitive in image space (or at least how they used to do it) so AA will not help in the slightest, your only hope to increase shadow quality is to wait for the developers to patch in higher quality shadow rendering.
