4G vs 8G

Is it worth getting 8G of ram with a new Win7 64bit version? I have been told it likes to have 6Gb but I dunno if it is worth the extra cost or not? Am I likely to see any better performance with 8G over 4G? I will not be doing ****loads of video conversions etc. Mostly playing games.

Ill be using an I5 2500k a GTX 580 and a 120G SSD.

Ok, I was a wee bit ambiguous in my first post. I should have said "8G of ram TO USE with Windows 7."
I HAVE an unopened copy of Windows 7. I bought it ages ago for less than £50 when it first came out. I have never needed it til now but, as I am buying a new, up to date system, I will be installing it on that.

Besides, it is a moot point as I thought sod it, might as well be as futureproof as possible. Got OC to upgrade from 4G to 8G with same type of memory, (corsair vengeance 12800c8) it cost the grand total of £24! Daft not to at that price!
