Heya peeps,

Have built a new build for work and consists of:

Asus P5W DH Deluxe mobo
4Gb Corsair Dominator 8500 (4x1Gb)
Windows XP Pro x64

Now am I missing something because I thought using 64bit OS meant you could utilise the whole 4Gb (or more) of memory. However, when the mobo POSTs it says I only have 3.12Gb of mem??? Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

really?!? I thought 64bit meant you could break thru the 3Gb limitation of 32bit :(

If its reported on your post screen no matter what version of OS you have will make any difference.

How much memory is reported in Windows?

Do you have to enable something on your motherboard for 4GB RAM addressing?

someone in General hardware has sorted it - turns out you need to turn "memory remapping" on in the bios to free up the appropriated memory!

Case Closed
