Ive been asked to spec up a workstation for some heavy CFD.
Liscencing per CPU means a highly clocked i7 is the best route, but this also means keeping the memory down to 3 DIMMs. And as the software is very memory hungry I need to source some 4GB DIMMs.
I can only see 4GB DDR3 on a competitor under Server PC3-10600, 240 pin with ECC. Some of it is listed as "compatibility with all Intel Tylersburg platforms & Nehalem".
Anyone enlighten me as to wether it will work with a normal X58 board and i7 ?
Or point me in the direction of some standard 4GB DIMMs.
Cheers
