4GB RAM fails memtest

Hi there,

Recently been having problems ( BSOD / Random Crashes ) so I ran a memtest and got back errors.

As I was testing each stick ( 4x 1GB sticks ) to find out what one/s are faulty, all of them passed memtest. So I ran another test, this time 2 sticks in the board at a time, all sticks passed again this way. Also tested the 2 sticks in all the slots on the motherboard ( might have had faulty slots? ) still they all passed.

How come I only get errors with all 4 sticks in the board? otherwise all the sticks are fine. The computer works awesome with only 2 sticks in.

Could a BIOS update fix this maybe? or is it more likely the voltage of the RAM or NB/SB being to low?

The RAM is rated at 2.2V and is set it that in the BIOS. They are overclocked, but I still get the same results using stock clocks.

What board is it? Some boards have problems running 4 sticks of ram. Sometimes it can be fixed by increasing the NB voltage a bit or sometimes a bios flash. There are some board's however that just do not work with 4 sticks, especially if they are all double sided sticks.

It's an evga 680i board.

I've just been doing some more tests, and with all 4 sticks in, there are no errors now, at all.

I'm really confused now..

I haven't changed anything, and the errors are gone.

Thanks I'll try that.

What would be a max safe voltage for the NB on the evga 680i? I have it at 1.3V at the min, can go upto 1.5V

What ram? I had issues with the GeIL ULL stuff doing exactly the same. It was only ever when the 4th slot in my completely diff mobo was populated. I couldnt solve it, so boiught 2x2gb ram instead.

It's Crucial 10th anniversary RAM.

Never had any problems with it before, just started having problems a week or so ago ( had the exact same setup for a year+ )
