Just put another 2Gb into my 2003 x64 server box, bringing the total to 4Gb.

Powered up, to find only 3Gb (3072Mb) reported. Did a bit of googling, and it came up with the suggestion of enabling the Memory Remap feature. So I did this.

Now it reports (in windows AND the BIOS) only 3.5Gb (3584Mb). Anyone got any ideas?!

Motherboard is Asus P5B-E Plus, if that's any use.

It's the BIOS that says 3584Mb (and consequently Windows too). Memory remapping is supposed to fix it, but all that did was add another 512Mb (from 3072Mb).

Just tried the latest beta, and still the same issue. Googling came up with one person with the same issue on a similar board (P5B Deluxe, iirc), and it doesn't look like it was solved.

So you have enabled PAE and it doesn't work?
It's my understanding that PAE is an OS enabled setting that's for >4Gb addressing on 32-bit systems.

My issue is the BIOS won't even detect the full amount.

wasnt there an issue with some older motherboards having issues reading 3.5+GB due to the chipset or something.
It's 965, so it's not exactly old. Anyone else with the 965 that actually works with 4Gb? DS3, P5B etc?

are all 4 sticks the same?
Yep, OCZ PC2-6400 CS4 stuff from OcUK. It's not on the Asus QVL (Qualified Vendor List) though - which is literally the only thing I can think of as being the problem at the moment!
is the bios seeing it as dual channel mode or single channel mode?
PC2-6400 Dual Channel Interleaved. Everest reports each DIMM socket as having an OCZ 1024Mb Module in.
i've just found out if u set the speed at 533mhz then it should see all 4gb
Tried that, no change. Put it back to Auto.
