Hi,

I'm thinking of installing Vista again after SP1 has been released.

I'm also wanting to get another 2GB RAM as it'll only cost me £34 for another 2GB of what I have now (Geil Ultra DDR2 4-4-4-12).

If I stick with 32-bit will I run into any problems, or will the OS just use ~3.2GB without moaning?

I might give 64-bit a go, but I'm just a bit worried about driver support and program support (certain programs can't run on 64-bit), so I might stick with 32-bit for now.

Thanks,
Craig.

there a very few things that don't run on 64 vista anymore. i run very old plotter at work which has 64bit drives, which is insane really, it like 8 years old.

64bit operating systems support 32big applications, its just that don't support 16bit ones, some installers are based on 16bit code, this is probably the only problem. so very old games don't work, so what, thats what the old PC is for.

also the 4GB ish limit on the 32bit operating system includes your Vram. so that can be a big hit relay.

ive got the same RAm (4x1gb) on 32-bit Xp and its shows up as 3.5gb ,ive had no issues what so ever BUT i have decided to upgrade to win xp x64 , which gives me the same stability as XP but with 4gb support, i simple dont trust vista yet after using it on some of my other machines

There is better than Zonealarm, why not use 1 Vendor for AntiVirus/AntiSpyware/Firewall ?.

Norton 360, KasperSky or Eset Smart Security all work in Vista 64.

Hmm, Have you actually tested it or still thinking inside the block like Norton old apps from about 2001 till 2006 thats were good but Hogs?.

Norton 2007 and Norton 360 use little resources at are far better than most others in the market.

If it was not for the fact you cant disable the Defrag Mode in 360 (possibly can in new version this year) I would have used it beyond the Beta testing and do use it for customers as its simple to let run itself and they are too lazy/dumb to defrag like I show them to.
