Just got a 4Gb SD card for my SPV.

Seems to work fine but when I try to copy over a movie (200-300Mb AVI) it seems to be succesful but will then not play on either my desktop or SPV.

Any ideas what the problem is?

(apologies if this is the wrong forum...but it is memory, kind of!)

Can you copy the file back off the card?

What exactly happens when you try to play it back, does it just not load or does it skip and jump.

Are you sure your device supports the 4GB SD card?
As you may or may not be aware there are two SD standards.
SD and SD HC.
SD cards are available right up to 2GB and slightly rarer the 4GB variety.
SD HC start at 4GB, there are 8GB available and we'll see 32GB by the end of the year.

If your device doesn't support the SD HC standard and the card you've purchased is a 4GB SD HC variety then you will run into a lot of issues.

We've also noticed that a lot of the "Unbranded" 4GB cards could be SD HC but not correctly marked as such.

Normally you'd not be able to see the card contents if it were a HC card plugged into a reader that doesn't support it. That's what I've found with my 4gb SDHC card in my digi-cam, none of my card readers like the card at all but obviously the card works fine in the digi-cam.
