Sorry if this has been asked before.

Could anybody tell me if there are any 'real world' benefits in going from 4GB to 8GB memory in Windows 7?

I'm not a heavy gamer and generally only use my system for sound and video, browsing and general office applications so I would have thought that 4GB should be more than enough.

Thanks for replies :)

when you say you use your system for sound and video, if that means sound and video editing then yes 8GB would be better than 4GB
If not you wont really see any benefit from the extra 4GB

yes and no, it depend on how intensive your sound and video editing package are and your system, since you said you have already 4gb i do believe you are using a 64bit system. if you state your system spec it would show a bit of light on what you are dealing with.

Advice: - Also the more the memory the better, especially if you can get your hands on some cheap modules

8 GB of memory is better if you are doing a lot of video production. The more memory you have, the better. Video rendering and editing require a lot of memory. if you talking about sound a good soundcard with an on board memory would also do the trick....
