4K 144Hz?

I'm looking to 'upgrade' my monitor to better suit gaming, but as a video professional I also need 4K... and that's where it gets slim pickings.

Why are there so few 4K 144+Hz monitors? Most on OcUK are either not out yet or out of stock - on 43" is in stock but that's way too big - which doesn't allow for much choice over size/design/other features. They're also very expensive compared to non-4K or non-144Hz versions.

Is there a reason these panels aren't that common and most gamers have 1440 panels etc?

Yeah I guess that makes sense for the majority, I certainly wouldn't be running games at 4K but I need that res when working etc.
